William Bradley Shook, age 91, of Banner Elk passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at his home

He was born November 13, 1932, in Avery County. A son of the late Hoyle Hayes Shook and Dulsie Michael Shook.

He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Mable Jones Shook of Banner Elk, son, Lynn Shook and wife Barbara of Cleveland, North Carolina, son, Glenn Shook of Newland, daughter, Ruthetta Williams of Lenoir, daughter, Verna Church of Morganton, son, Phil Shook and wife Elaine of Morganton, daughter, Felicia Ruppard and husband Robert of Banner Elk, brother, Errol Shook and wife Pat of Boone, sister, Linda Orr of Charlotte, sister, Joyce Wilson and husband Ken of Ashburn, Virginia, fifteen grandchildren, forty two great-grandchildren, and 21 great-great-grandchildren as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father and mother he was preceded in death by, grandson, Christopher Williams, brothers, Larry Shook, Zeb Shook and Rhonda Shook, sisters, Pauline North, Mildred Smith and Audrey Rominger, and two sons-in-law, Dennis Williams and Kenneth Church.

Bradley, as he was known to friends and family, was a very talented and loving man. He went to music school in Chattanooga, Tn and played piano, organ, guitar, and harmonica and sang in churches and in several local groups. He was a brick mason by trade and loved his family above all else. He loved to coon hunt and missed having a hound dog in his later years. Later in life he took up golf and as with everything he did he excelled at it and loved to play and beat his sons on weekends. He was a generous and giving man who was always there for his family and friends. As the years crept up he loved to sit outside on his bench or on the loveseat in the living room and hold hands with the love of his life Mabel and listen to country and gospel music.

A private family graveside memorial service will be held.
