Thomas "Tom" Harold Barnes, 77, of Huntersville passed peacefully into Heaven's Eternity on December 16, 2022 at Arbor Ridge of Huntersville.

Tom was a native of Boone, NC and moved to Charlotte, NC in the 1960's for work. A professional truck driver, Tom logged many miles for Roadway Trucking in the Charlotte area. His passion for old cars evidenced in pridefully owning/driving his '67 Dodge Charger. He was a member of Huntersville Presbyterian Church where he served as an usher, greeter, and transportation provider. Tom and Barbara were classmates at Appalachian High School in Boone graduating with the Class of 1963. He enjoyed App State football, Carolina Panthers, watching any sporting event, and spending time with family. Always a great conversationalist, Tom made friends everywhere he went.

Tom was born September 15. 1945 in Boone, NC to Judd and Nell Cook Barnes who along with his sister, Roberta Miller preceded him in death.

Tom is survived by his wife and caregiver, Barbara M. Barnes of the home. Brother, Rex Barnes of Boone, NC. Sons, Matthew Barnes (Jennifer) and Ben Barnes. Grandsons, David Barnes (April), Owen Barnes. Granddaughters, Ashley Shults, Breana Lawson (Adam). Great-grandson, Ryker Barnes. Great-granddaughters, Willow Barnes, Allison Lawson.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Huntersville Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow at the church.
