Thomas "Edd" Edward Warren

Reverend Thomas Edward “Edd” Warren, age 90, of Granite Falls, went to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

A native of Watauga County, Edd was born on October 10th,1935, to Raymond and Nora Thomas Warren. Edd was one of eleven siblings. After moving off the mountain for work, Edd fell in love and married the woman who would become his lifelong companion, Joyce Hodges Warren. Together they shared two cherished daughters, Pat and Cheryl.

Edd’s life was defined by service to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Entering into ministry in 1965 as Pastor at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lenoir, he would soon after become Pastor at Sunrise Baptist Church in Sawmills, where he served for 36 years before his retirement. Preacher Edd loved his church family and devoted his life to serving his congregation and his community. Upon his retirement he continued serving the Lord through visitation at nursing homes, hospitals, and shut-ins, or by driving someone to an appointment. Remembering all that the Lord had done for him, Preacher Edd saw the good in everyone and shared the love of Jesus through his ministry.

Preacher Edd is survived by his beloved children, Patricia Joan Warren of Granite Falls and Cheryl Warren Creed of Zionville; Grand-children Kelli (John) Sherwood of Vilas and Katelyn (David) Isaacs of Vilas; Great-grandchildren Lindi and Raylin Sherwood of Vilas, Summer and Ellie Isaacs of Vilas; Brother Steve (Mary) Warren of Hudson; Sister Elsie Winebarger of Zionville, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce Hodges Warren; parents Raymond and Nora Thomas Warren; infant Grand-son Chase Warren Courtner; Son-in-law Eugene Creed; siblings Juanita Wilson, Gaye Coffey, Catherine Gilbert, Karen Mask, Hal Warren, Reverend Bill Warren, Jack Warren, Dale Warren.

Preacher Edd’s life will be celebrated on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Sunrise Baptist Church (2643 Mission Rd, Hudson, NC 28638) with visitation beginning at 2:00pm and service to follow at 4:00pm. Graveside services will follow in the church cemetery.

Reverend Doug Cox, Reverend Derick Wilson, Reverend Danny Wright, and Reverend Toby Oliver will officiate. Preacher Edd’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude for the compassionate care provided to Preacher Edd by Caldwell County Amorem in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the following: Caldwell County Amorem, Sunrise Baptist Church (2643 Mission Rd, Hudson, NC 28638), Mt. Zion Baptist Church (1787 Cajah Mountain Rd, Hudson, NC 28638). No food is requested.
