Thelma Jean Presnell Ward, age 94, of Deep Gap passed away Wednesday October 26, 2022.

She was born October 5, 1928, in Beech Creek. A daughter of the late John and Cora Presnell.

Mrs. Ward was a loving wife and mother, and a member of Corner stone Missionary Baptist Church. She was a steady and strong woman of faith, and she loved her family with all her heart. The only one she loved more than family was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she dedicated her life to His service and to being a faithful witness of the gospel of Christ.

She is survived by five sons, Ricky Ward of Boone, Gary Ward and wife Charlotte of Asheville, Wilburn Ward and wife Betty of Johnson City, Tennessee, Richard Ward and wife Joyce of Gastonia, Wayne Ward and wife Christy of Hickory North Carolina, one daughter, Regina Mettam and husband Charles of Boone, ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her father and mother she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Ward, three sons, Sgt. Larry Grant Ward, John Basil Ward and Tony Arland Ward and four brothers, Clark, Clate, Charlie and Nathan Presnell.

Funeral service for Thelma Jean Presnell Ward will be conducted on Saturday, October 29, 2022. Services will be private. Pastor Eric Proffitt will officiate.
