Obituary

Teresa Ann Burleson, born Teresa Ann Ledford, passed away on October 3, 2026, in Mt. Vernon, Virginia. She was born on June 20, 1960, in Ashville, North Carolina.

Teresa will be remembered with deep love by those closest to her. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Ray Burleson, Sr. who said they lived a fairy tale marriage; her sons, Johnny Ray Burleson, Jr. and his wife, Abby, and Travis Gregory; and her daughter, Christy Hoyle. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Johnny Ray Burleson, Hannah Burleson, and Cooper Gregory. Teresa is also survived by her father, Jim Ledford.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl Kitchen Ledford.

Family was at the heart of Teresa’s life, and her memory will remain a lasting part of the lives of her loved ones. In the love of her husband, the lives of her children, and the joy of her grandchildren, her presence will continue to be felt and cherished.

A visitation will be held on October 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Southerland Baptist Church, 134 Brown Hollar Road, Creston, North Carolina 28615. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Sutherland Baptist Church, with the burial following at Greer Family Cemetery, Creston.
