Stana Lynnette Smith, age 53, passed away November4th at her mother's home, where she frequently spent the night.

Stana was born June 26, 1971, in Watauga County, the daughter of Mary-Frank Smith, and the late Stanford Len "Stan" Smith.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Cove Creek Baptist Church. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She sang at church and sometimes she and her mother would sing together.

After High School, Stana worked at Belk and then moved to work as a pharmacy tech at Watauga Medical Center

Music should have been Stanas middle name. She loved all genres of music, but her favorite was country. Dolly Parton was her favorite, and she had a huge collection of memorabilia.  She knew the words of most of the songs from the 70's to the present. She was the top player of Song Pop last month. She loved to sing at Karaoke venues. People would request her to sing more songs.

Stana lived with many illnesses and music was her therapy. Before being afflicted with many of her illnesses, she loved and was good at sports, especially bowling. She and her dad, Stan, won many trophies in bowling.

Stana had several good friends. Steve Firth was her traveling and bluegrass buddy. They were Dolly Parton Chasers for many years.

In addition to her father, Stana was preceded in death by an aunt, Alberta Isaacs, her maternal grandparents, Frank and Mallie Overcash, and paternal grandparents, Albert and Johnsie Smith.

Our thanks and appreciation to the EMT's who came often to help Stana breathe.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 4:30 until 7:30, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel.

At other times the family will be at the home of her mother Mary-Frank Smith, 228 Vilas Overlook, Vilas.
