Roger Lee Thorson, age 84, of Deep Gap, passed away Monday December 26, 2022, at Watauga Medical Center.

He was born September 26, 1938, in Canton, South Dakota. A son of the late Kenneth M. Thorson and Naomi Garvey Thorson.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Walterman Thorson of Deep Gap, three daughters, Kimberly Mateiko and husband Steven of Boone, Kelli Garcia of California and Kristi Stearns and husband Mark of California, grandson, Justin Pridgen and wife Tamara of Weaverville, North Carolina, granddaughter, Jessica Mackie and husband Tyler of Johnson City, Tennessee, granddaughter, Kirsten Garcia of Stockholm, Sweden, grandson, Kyle Garcia of California granddaughter, Madison Stearns of California, three great-grandchildren, Maverick Mackie, Marley Mackie, Charles Pridgen and Chase Pridgen, one brother, Ronald Thorson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and one sister, Marlys Goodyear and husband Dick of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Campbell Memorial Chapel, Powder Horn Mountain, Deep Gap. Pastor Steve Nickel will officiate.
