Peggy Ann Whittington Moore Horton passed away at home. Peggy was born July 16, 1934, into the family of Roy and Roberta Whittington of Vilas, North Carolina. Peggy has two brothers, Charles and Bobby and one sister, Dottie. Happily, she has been reunited with them all in Heaven.

Peggy first husband was Clarence Moore who passed away from a trucking accident. Peggy found love again and married Sam Horton who passed away due to illness.

Peggy is survived by her children Gloria Moore, Doug Moore and wife Joan, Curt Moore and John LaCue and wife Sonya. She is the loving grandmother of Colby Moore, Seth Moore, Andrew Moore, Justin Moore, Bridgette Triplett and husband JT, Devan LaCue, Jayden LaCue, and Alaina Whittington. Her son Thomas Whittington preceded her to Heaven, and we believe he welcomed her with a big ole smile and burst of laughter! Six great grandchildren also survive Peggy: Ashlynn, Lalia, Lincoln, Anna Belle, Lyric, and Ace. The number of nieces, nephews, friends, and family are too numerous to count but her love for each of them is undeniable!

As a retired teaching assistant, Peggy is also survived by a host of former Hardin Park students who were the lucky recipients of her love and respect for children – a legacy to which we all should aspire to.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 prior to the service.

Flowers are appreciated; however, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hamptons Funeral Home toward the purchase of a headstone for Peggy.
