She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank L. Smith, Sr., Lucy Amos Smith, her brother, Frank Smith, Jr., and her beloved husband, Lyn E. Pollard. She is survived by her loving family: Lucie, Jeff, Lynne, AJ, Haley, her great-grandson and great-granddaughter, and the many nieces and nephews she dearly loved.

She spent much of her life in Lenoir, NC, and also in Chapel Hill, NC. She began her lifetime of professional work at the age of 19 for the Red Cross for a number of years, before starting and co-owning (with her husband) the retail store of Smith Printing, later known as Nashlyn's. She created the Christmas showroom that was known across the state in the 60s-70s. In her 70's she wrote a novel and in her 70s and 80s she worked in publishing as an editor.
