Luther "Cooter" Conley Brown age 88, of Boone passed away Monday June 22, 2026, at Watauga Medical Center.

He was born on December 17, 1937, in Watauga County. The son of the late Fred and Addie Dancy Brown.

He is survived by three sons, Johnny Brown of Cameron, North Carolina; Eric Brown of Taylorsville, North Carolina and Phillip Brown and wife Melissa of Boone; six grandchildren, Tyler Dustin Miller, Caitlin Nicole Sealey-Brown, Lauren Nicole Sealey-Brown, Katelyn Joyce Brown, Matthew Garrett Brown, Jeffery Wayne Brown, Joshua Ryan Brown and Hannah Lea Raines and husband Trace, one brother, Wiley Brown of Boone; three sisters, Shirley Arney, Ruby Bryan and Loye Greer, and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his father and mother he was preceded by his wife Mary Watson Brown, and two sisters, Mary Jo Cook and Beulah Watson.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday June 27, 2026, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Browns Chapel Cemetery. Reverend Bud Russell will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00, prior to the service.
