Lois Combs age 84 of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed quietly, on Thursday August 20, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on August 3, 1942, in Washington PA. to Frank Kress and Margaret Faye Kress.

Lois was an educator in Twinsburg Ohio for over 30 years. She worked as a teacher, principal, and curriculum director. She was devoted to and loved by the many students she served.

Lois devoted herself to her family. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. She served as the secretary of the Guy-Combs Family Cemetery Association.

She is survived by her sons Mike Combs and wife Tonya of Mountain City, Christopher Kish of Mountain City, and Tom Combs of Vilas. Her daughters Nancy Mixon and husband Clark of Mountain City, and Michelle Kish of White Pine TN. Her sister, Carol Spooner of Englewood Florida. Her Grandchildren are Garrett Mixon (Meghan), Raleigh Combs, William Combs and Matthew Proctor, Jessee Devaney, James Devaney (Jessie), Sam Devaney and Hannah Holmes (Jake). She is also survived by five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews around the country.

The family would like to give thanks to special friends Junior Trivette and his wife Mary, Danny Grindstaff and his wife Margaret for the love and care shown to our family.

Funeral services for Lois Combs will be held at Hampton Funeral Service in Boone NC, officiated by Tom Redmond, on Wednesday August 26. Visitation from 12-2pm, Service at 2pm. Grave side service at the Guy Combs family cemetery will follow.
