Winston-Salem, NC- Mr. Lloyd Joe Bentley, age, 90, formerly of Boone, died Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his home in Winston-Salem.  Born February 7, 1933, in Watauga County, he was a son of the late Franklin L. and Florence Hollars Bentley.

Mr. Bentley was a retired carpenter with Norris Construction and attended Willowdale Baptist Church.  He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and serving 2 tours in Vietnam.

Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Craig and a brother, Don Bentley.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Teague Bentley; 2 sons, Rodney Bentley, and wife Malia of Clemmons; Greg Bentley of Fletcher, NC; 3 Grandchildren, Dustin Bentley, and wife Samantha of Clemmons; Taylor Bentley and wife Autumn of Clemmons; Lindsey Chilton and husband Chad of Pilot Mountain and 2 Great-Grandchildren, Waylon and Jace Bentley.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the Chapel of Hampton Funeral Service with Reverend Eugene Braswell officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army, the Watauga American Legion Post #130, and the DAV Chapter 90; Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at Hampton Funeral Service.
