Zionville, NC- Mrs. Libby Smith Eggers, age 90, died Monday, October 2, 2023, at home. Born September 2, 1933, in Bristol, TN, she was a daughter of the late Claude Thurmond and Eula Ruby Shepard Smith.

Mrs. Eggers was a member of Union Baptist Church. She worked in the motel business for many years.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by two children, Richard Eggers and Peggy Smith and two brothers, Harry and Jack Smith.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Oley L. Eggers; daughter, Teresa Faris of Fort Lawn, SC; sons, Tim Eggers and wife Grace of Statesville and Billy Eggers of Kershaw, SC; and sister, Doris Dawson of Amelia, OH.  She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Libby Cope and husband Ron of Tampa, FL; Erika Carroll and husband Nathan of Holly Springs; Keri Eggers and husband Steve of Chino Valley, AZ; Aaron Eggers and wife Joy of Griffith, Indiana; Joshua Eggers and wife Jazmine of Statesville; Luke Eggers and wife Natalie of Kingman, AZ; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 6, 2023, at Union Baptist Church with Preacher Derick Wilson and Aaron Eggers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the church.

Pallbearers will be:  Joshua Eggers, Austen Eggers, Nathan Carroll, Ron Perisee, Ronnie Garland and Tommy Greene.
