Larry Ray Wheeler, age 70, of Boone, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at Watauga Medical Center.

Larry was a lifelong resident of Boone and loved music, animals, and Sunday drives. He was particularly fond of the Linn Cove Viaduct, which he helped build, and visits from his grand dogs Lizzie and Daisy. He was kind and generous and had a huge heart. He was surrounded by his daughters and brother at the time of his passing.

He is survived by two daughters, Courtney Nicole Wheeler and Lisa Shellman & husband Jeff, all of Boone, NC.; two granddaughters, Anna Shellman of Birmingham, AL, and Sarah Grace Shellman of Greenville, SC.; one grandson, Whitaker Shellman of Greenville, S.C.; his ex-wife and life-long friend, Emma Wheeler; his Father, Claude Robbins of OH; four brothers, Bud Robbins & wife, Robbin of Marion; Tom Robbins, Eddie Robbins, Tim Robbins, all of OH; one sister, Donna Parsons of OH.; his beloved cousins, Pat & Kenneth Rhymer; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, cousins and other beloved family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Magdalene Wheeler.

A celebration of Life for the family will be held at a later date.
