Kathy Proffitt Taylor, age 69, of Deerfield Road, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022, at her home.

She was born May 29, 1953, in Watauga County. A daughter of the late Cless and Virginia Winebarger Proffitt. She was a homemaker and a member of Meat Camp Assembly of God Church. Kathy had a big heart loving and caring for children and animals.

She is survived by her stepson, Jerry Taylor and spouse, Rick of Mooresville, two brothers, Joe Proffitt and wife Joyce of Boone and twin brother, Keith Proffitt of Boone, two sisters, Elaine Greer and Irene Norris both of Boone, brother-in-law, Joe Taylor and wife Wanda of Boone, nieces, Sherri Farmer of Boone, Toni Dishman and husband Ronnie of Boone, Jennifer Proffitt of Boone and Joanna Wayt and husband Chuck of Lansing, three nephews, Greg Greer and wife Abbey of Boone, John Taylor and wife Kimberly of Foscoe and Dylan Proffitt whom she raised. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews, Brandon Farmer and wife Kristin, Michael Dyer, Arron Taylor, Chloe Wayt, Jaxon Wayt, Justin Dishman and wife Tammy, Mason Dishman and Elija Brown, and a lifelong friend, Belva McGlamery. She is also survived by several aunts, uncle and cousins.

In addition to her father and mother she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Taylor, one son by her first marriage, Gerald Wayne Huff, one sister Lydia Ann Proffitt, one brother, Dennis Ray Proffitt, one brother-in-law, John Taylor and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ford and Dorothy Taylor.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 29, 2022, at 12:00 PM at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mount Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Chuck Bristle, Pastor Jerry Moretz and Pastor Kenny Newberry will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00, prior to the service.

At other times the family will be at the residence of Jerry Taylor, 2004 Deerfield Road.

The family would like to express their appreciation to caretakers, Kathy Hayes, Linda Winebarger and her beloved cousin Donna Miller.
