Johnny Roscoe Greer, age 83, of Boone, North Carolina, passed away on October 27, 2026.

The son of the late Lowell and Lois Miller Greer, Johnny was born on May 23, 1943. In additon to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his brothers, Leonard, Jack, Elton, and Grant Greer, and his sisters Emma Mae Rultgen and Lena Norris.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Doris Trivette Greer; his daughter, Brenda McClain and husband Larry; and his son, Allan Greer and wife Stephanie, of Newland.

He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chelsea Long and husband Tyler, of Hudson, Florida; Laci McClain and friend, Christian Laughridge, of Florida; Bob Greer; Barrett Pruess and wife Sharina, of Michigan; Zack Greer and wife Ciara, of Lenoir; sisters-in-law Betty Greer, Ethel Greer, Juanita Miller, Marilyn Watson, Evilyn Hicks, June Weaver, Barbara Ashley, and Martha Greer; brothers-in-law, Joel Weaver, and Roy Miller, and one great granddaughter, Julia Claire Pruess. He is survived as well by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Johnny was a member of Proffitt’s Grove Baptist Church. He worked for AT&T for 30 years as a repairman. He served his country in the United States Army for two years, stationed in Frankfurt, Germany.

Johnny loved being outdoors enjoying God’s creation, and had a love for fishing, hunting, woodworking, and gardening. He especially treasured sharing time with his neighbors, family and friends.

A memorial service in honor of Johnny will be conducted at Proffitt's Grove Baptist Church on Friday, October 30, 2026 at 3:00pm. A visitation will  be held prior to the service.
