Joel Brian Mauser of Hickory went peacefully to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Marilee Mauser, and their five children, Cassie Lee Tarter and her husband, Blair Tarter; Allie Rae Bentley and her husband, Matt Bentley; Karris Jordyn Mauser; Jayda Faith Mauser; and Luke Joseph Mauser. Other surviving relatives include his mother, Sarah Mauser, brother, Jonathan Mauser, and three grandchildren: Banks Tarter, Evelyn Tarter, and Rome Bentley.

Joel was preceded in death by his father, Robert Thomas Mauser and a grandson, Barrett Russell Tarter.

A loving husband and father of five, Joel enjoyed being with his family more than anything. He worked driving a tractor trailer for over 30 years and was an avid gardener. Joel also spent much of his life working on his family's farm and helping to run the Hickory Livestock Barn with his dad, mom, and brother.

Joel's family plans to hold a private celebration of life for family and friends this spring.
