Jeffrey Eldon Fish, 66, of Beech Mountain, NC, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, following a two-year battle with cancer.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Donna Clarke Fish; his children, Andrew Taylor Fish and Erin Christine Fish; and his sister, Tomi Fish Wier (Joel).

Jeff was born in Atlanta, GA, on July 4, 1957, to Robert Withrow and Alice Bash Fish. He graduated from Sequoyah High School in 1975, received his BS in Biology from Furman University in 1979, and worked as a research scientist in Atlanta and Winston-Salem, NC. He was a problem-solver who enjoyed the challenge of unusual projects. His many hobbies over the years included carpentry, design, travel, biking, backpacking, kite-flying, sailing, unicycling, juggling, paddling, skiing, and snowshoeing.

When he semi-retired to Beech Mountain, he served as Building Inspector for the town. Jeff and Donna enjoyed life together on the mountaintop, where they have been active in pickleball, hiking, recreation, and town events.

Jeff's gregarious, intelligent, quick-humored, inquisitive, adventurous spirit has been a delight to family and friends his entire life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
