Jean Alice Franz passed peacefully on December 28, 2023 at 93 years of age.

She was predeceased by her husband Fred Franz and son Steven Kirk Glass.

Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Frederick Craig and Jennifer Franz of Linville, grandsons Josh and wife Alicia Franz of Fenton, Michigan, Mica Franz, and six great grandchildren.

Jean Alice Pack was born on December 14th, 1930 in Portsmouth, Ohio to Stella and Clarence Pack. She was very outgoing in High School participating in drama and cheer leading. Jean moved to Avery County from Michigan in the summer of 1969.

She was very active in her community of Montezuma. Jean enjoyed her church family; singing in the church choir most of her life and teaching Sunday School. Jean worked at Sherman's Clothing in Newland for 23 years, where her warm and friendly personality endeared her to many people of Avery County. In her later years she volunteered for the Avery Co. Ombudsman committee and the Care Givers Group at the Avery County Senior Center. Jean will be sadly missed by family and friends.
