Gregory B. (Greg) Winebarger, age 63, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023, in Bend, Oregon. Greg was born in Watauga County on February 15, 1960, to the late Tommy M. Winebarger and his surviving mother, Phyllis J. Greene of Boone. He fought Multiple Myeloma for the last few years, never complaining, with his wife by his side.
He is survived by his wife, Michele Winebarger, her daughter Kathleen Patrick and grandson Dalton. Also surviving are his sisters, Sherrie Idol and husband Jerry of Boone and Angela Morgan of Deep Gap. He also had two nephews, Josh Idol and Jennings Morgan and a great niece Sophie Idol.
Greg was missed by his family when he traveled to Oregon, but he faithfully called his mother each day and loved her so much. He grew up working with his uncles who taught him his trade ... working on cars and farming. He has a special uncle whom he loved dearly, JC. Winebarger, who was like a father to him.
Greg is also survived by his three aunts, Delores Breedlove, Susie Winebarger and Elsie Winebarger and many cousins whom he loved as well.
A private memorial will be held at a later date.
