Obituary

Frieda Primm Jones, 97, passed away on June 5, 2023.

Frieda grew up on a farm in the Huntersville side of Charlotte on Primm Road and graduated from Long Creek School in Huntersville. She was employed by several banks over the years and retired from Wachovia Bank, Charlotte in 1988. She was married to Robert L. Jones (Bobby) of Carolina Beach, and they made their home in the Coulwood Community of Charlotte from 1955 to 1988 where Frieda was very active in the Women's Garden Club and Bridge Group. Frieda loved to be a hostess to everyone she met and was well known for her delicious home cooking and cakes. She was the official "Cake Baker" at Wachovia for all their employee celebrations, and she also became the assistant to the Executive Chef in the Executive Dining Room.

After Bobby's death in 1986, Frieda retired and lived for several years in a quaint log cabin in Chapel Hill where she established many close friendships and opened an antique space in Hillsborough, NC. She then moved to her and Bobby's Mountain Cottage off Main Street in Blowing Rock, NC where she continued to enjoy time with dear friends, dabble in antiques, decorate her home, and cheer on her favorite basketball teams. Blowing Rock was truly her Happy Place. She loved to garden and was very detailed and meticulous in everything she did. Her beautiful garden in Blowing Rock caught the eye of Our State Magazine, and she was featured in the April 2012 edition. This was Frieda's pride and joy, and she felt like a celebrity. Frieda lived by the Golden Rule, Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You, and was a great example to her family and friends who will miss her dearly.

A quote from Our State Magazine captures the essence of Frieda's spirit…

"One woman in Blowing Rock filled her yard with plants,

her life with people,

and every moment with what matters most."

Frieda is survived by her 2 daughters, Jan Jones Riggsbee (Ned Riggsbee) of Chapel Hill and Melissa Jones Baker Richardson (Jimmy Richardson) of Charlotte. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren: Jacob Riggsbee of Chapel Hill, Banks Baker (Meghan Baker) of Greensboro and Austin Baker and Heath Baker of Charlotte and her 3 great grandchildren: Scarlett, Magnolia and Banks Baker, Jr. of Greensboro. She is survived by 1 brother, Brodie Primm (Frances Primm) of Charlotte and many nieces and nephews.

Frieda is predeceased by her husband Robert Jones (Bobby), her parents John and Goldie Lawing Primm, her siblings, Myrtle Primm Williams, James and Joe Primm all of Charlotte.
