Frances Deane Roberts Shuford, age 83 of Boone, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Watauga Medical Center.

She was born May 20, 1940, in Asheville. A daughter of the late Dewey and Mary Burnett Roberts. She was a retired schoolteacher and a member of Perkinsville Baptist Church. Deane loved to garden and travel and was involved in many civic groups over the years in Watauga County.

She is survived by one daughter, Rene Shuford of Lansing, one grandson, Taylor Shuford, and wife Spencer of Boone, one daughter-in-law, Gail Shuford of Boone, two great-grandchildren, Tate, and Emmie Lee Shuford of Boone. She is also survived by multiple cousins, two sisters-in-law, multiple nieces and a nephew.

In addition to her father and mother she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Joe Shuford, and one son, Jody Shuford.

A celebration of life will be conducted Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 12:00 PM, at Perkinsville Baptist Church. Pastor Seth Norris and Pastor Harold Bennett will officiate.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 8, 2023, from 4 until 7 PM at Perkinsville Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Perkinsville Baptist Church Beyond Fund, 274 Jefferson Rd, Boone, NC 28607.
