Boone, NC- Fran Nichols Ford, age 82, of Boone, died Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in Glenbridge Nursing and Rehabilitation.  She was born November 15, 1940, in Wake County.

Fran's main goal in life was to help children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Jay Ford; her mother, Frances House Nichols; a brother, Homer Nichols, Jr. and a great-grandchild, Gaby Hernandez.

She is survived by her four children; Nicolette Davis and husband Roy of Las Vegas, NV; Saundra Teaster and husband Philip of Banner Elk; John Greg Orpen and wife Jean of Colorado; and Jim Orpen and wife Charlene of Fayetteville along with all of their children and grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings, Kay Ogden and husband Noah of Visalia, CA; Mary Sanford of Clayton; Sammie Poole of Oklahoma; Daniel Nichols and wife Wendy of Raleigh and Dawn Allgood and husband Don of Clayton.

Services for Fran will be private for the family.  She will be laid to rest next to her late husband David in Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.
