Zionville, NC - Mrs. Fern Griffith McLeod, age 96, of Zionville, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, in the Kate B. Reynoldson Hospice House in Winston-Salem.  Born December 9, 1926, in Tamaqua, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha Griffith and the wife of the late Jefferson Frank McLeod.

Other than her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Robin McLeod and a brother, Gordon Griffith.

Mrs. McLeod was a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church and had worked during WWII as a telephone operator in Baltimore, MD.  She enjoyed crafts and attending craft shows.  She enjoyed the companionship of her two special Pomeranians, Jasper and Lucky.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon McLeod of Zionville and Melanie Eggers and husband Ronald of Zionville; 2 sons, James McLeod of Mocksville; Jeff McLeod of Zionville; 4 grandchildren, Melinda Greene of Boone; Jamie Trivette of Boone; Jonathan Eggers and wife Laurel of Zionville; Kathy Isaacs and husband Daniel of Zionville; 6 great-grandchildren, Devon Trivette of Zionville; Dustin Trivette of Boone; Sgt. Frankie Greene and wife Alondra Estrada of Fort Hood, TX; Dalton Greene of Mt. City, TN; Makahyla Archie of Sparta; Jeremiah Archie of Boone and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

A Graveside service for Mrs. Fern McLeod will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, September 25, 2023, in the Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Kevin Combs officiating.
