Eddie Alejandro, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 18th, 2026. He passed peacefully with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born in Vieques, Puerto Rico to Alicia Perez-Alejandro and Jorge Luis Alejandro. As part of a military family, he lived in various places globally. He graduated from Massey Hill High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 1966. Subsequently, Eddie moved to Boone to attend Appalachian State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in speech therapy. Eddie was the beloved husband of Dona Flake Alejandro, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Together, they made their home in Boone and raised one daughter, Alicia Alejandro Clawson.
Eddie worked at the Watauga County Farm Bureau Insurance Agency for 44 years where he treated all of his customers as family. He generously gave his time to the community through numerous volunteer efforts including work as a board member for Watauga Opportunities, a member of Watauga County Crime Stoppers, and a bilingual translator for the hospital and law enforcement agencies. Eddie was an active member of Deerfield United Methodist Church where he served in many roles and assisted in various outreach missions.
Eddie is survived by his wife Dona, his daughter Alicia Clawson (Larry Clawson), and grandsons Alexander Clawson and Nick Clawson. He also is survived by his siblings Jorge, Gary, Jatzmin, Norma, Nora, Myrtha, Carmen, and Gilberto, as well as brother/sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alicia and Jorge, and siblings, Laura, Hector, and Maria.
A celebration of his life will be held at Deerfield United Methodist Church in Boone on Saturday, September 19th. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall at 1:00 PM, with the service to follow at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Deerfield United Methodist Church Youth Ministries (PO Box 1337, Boone, NC 28607) or Watauga Opportunities (PO Box 2330, Boone, NC 28607).
