Dorothy Perry Winebarger, 77, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023, at Watauga Medical Center. Dot was born on February 8, 1946, in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Astor Perry and Jessie Thomas Perry.

She graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC, and Appalachian State University, where she received a bachelor's degree in education. It is no surprise that she chose a career in teaching, as her true calling was caring for others. She nurtured the art of learning, respect, and compassion in her students and many of them still kept in touch with her.

Dot's kindness has touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was outgoing and lived her life to the fullest. She was generous with her time and her love. She devoted her life to her family, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Her life revolved around her three grandchildren and her love for them knew no bounds.

Dot is survived by her daughter, Meredith Morgan (Jim); grandchildren, Brooke, Drew and Emma; sister Margaret Hardin (Charles); nephew Andrew Hardin (Jackie); nephew Joseph Perry and great nephew Charlie Hardin. Also surviving is a loving extended family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Lewie Winebarger, and her brothers, David and Clayton Perry.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 4, at 11:00 am at Boone Church of Christ. A private family burial will follow.
