Sugar Grove, NC- Denise Thomas Smith, age 52, of Sugar Grove, died Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her home. Born May 30, 1971, in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Lawrence Thomas of Zionville and the late Lois Thomas.
Denise was a faithful, godly wife, loving mother, daughter, and sister. She married the love of her life, Michael, on January 25, 1992. We are so thankful for the wonderful 52 years that we had the pleasure of knowing this godly woman on this earth, who touched so many people, she loved music, and she was the pianist and organist for 38 years at Union Baptist Church where she was a member.
Denise is survived by her loving husband, Michael of 31 years; two godly sons, Dylan Smith, and wife Hannah and their son Rydor, and Luke Smith; her father, Lawrence Thomas of Zionville; sister, Paula Hicks and husband, Bobby of Vilas; and brother, Daren Thomas of Washington, DC. She is also survived by her niece, Lindsay Story, and husband Logan and their two children, Sadie Gray and Beau of Zionville and niece, Abby Reese, and husband Casey of Butler, TN. Others surviving are her mother-in-law, Brenda Henson, and husband Jerry of Sugar Grove; Father-in-law, Mick Smith of Jacksonville, NC; brother-in-law, Matthew Smith, and wife Jerica and their three children, Mattie, Carson, Landon, of Sugar Grove; and brother-in-law, Andrew Smith, and wife Katy, and their two children, Finn, and Ansley of High Point.
Funeral Services will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Union Baptist Church with Reverend Vernon Eller and Reverend Toby Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, June 9, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Hampton Funeral Service.
Memorial contributions may be made to Union Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. The family respectfully request no food.
