David Lee Kissinger 84 of Boone North Carolina went to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ on the first day of September 2023. Dave was born in Richland Missouri on July 18th, 1939, to the late James and Elizabeth Kissinger.
Dave grew up in a small town and his family raised him in the church from the beginning. He grew up to be an exceptionally good athlete in baseball and basketball which he played at Southwest Baptist College. He achieved All American status in 1959. He then went to Hardin Simmons University and was awarded the most outstanding athlete in 1961. After college Dave moved back to Missouri and started coaching at Bowling Green High School. He married Barbara Mosley in 1963. Dave changed fields in 1966 to insurance with State farm. He quickly excelled and rose to the executive level which allowed a small-town couple to travel the world. Dave and his wife Barbara were very active in every church he attended wherever they lived. He was a Sunday school teacher as well as being called to be a deacon and serving on many committees to plan for athletic outreach. He was very proud to be the teacher of the Lamplighter Sunday School Class at Trinity for many years. He was incredibly dedicated to his family and a devoted husband.
Dave was preceded in death by his brother Ed "Bud" Kissinger his daughter Debbie and son-in-law Charlie Walker. Dave was survived by his daughter Jean Reinhardt of Sarasota, FL, and his son Tim of Boone, North Carolina, Grandchildren Doug Tiefenthaler of Mt. Juliet TN Carly and Scott Buntin of Hendersonville NC, Matt Walker of Myrtle Beach SC, Zach and James Walker of Raleigh, NC, and Great grandchildren Sophia & Logan of Hendersonville NC. He had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved immensely. He always considered his family and church family incredibly important to him. Dad, you will be greatly missed by your family and many church families. A celebration of Dave's life will be held on Friday September 29th at 2:00 p.m. with family visitation starting at 1:00 at Trinity Baptist Church 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh North Carolina, 27609.
