Daisy Ruth McGhinnis Hollars, age 90 of Blowing Rock passed away Thursday August 27, 2026, at the Foley Center surrounded by her family.

She was born June 26, 1936, in Watauga County. The daughter of the late Charles Hayden McGinnis and Sally Hodges McGinnis. She was retired from IRC Corporation and was a member of First Independent Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Greene and husband Dean of Blowing Rock and Sandra Hollars of Blowing Rock; three grandchildren, Lindsey Green of Blowing Rock; Anna Greene and Dylan of Blowing Rock and Hunter Clough and wife Victoria of Collettsville; two great-grandchildren, Emmy Greene and River Clough. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives who were dear to her heart.

In addition to her father and mother she was preceded by her first husband, Herman Hollars, her second husband, Joe Hollars, one infant grandson Seth Landon Hollars, one sister, Virgie Grove, four brothers, Robert, Winfred, Council and Marion McGinnis.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Sunday August 30, 2026, at Woodlawn Cemetery. Reverend Gary Shew and Dr. Harvey Bauman will officiate.
