INGRID ROSENTHAL FRIEDMAN who lived with her son, Nicholas R. Friedman,and daughter-in-law, Mary, in Sugar Grove, N.C., died peacefully in her sleep at age 91.

She previously resided at Hound Ears Club and at Appalachian Brian Estates. Born in Eschwege, Germany she and her now deceased sister, Greta, and her deceased parents, Dr. Max Rosenthal and wife, Flora, were able to leave Germany in 1938, although most of their relatives perished in the Holocaust.

They were able to establish a new life in Bogota, Colombia, where she met and married the love of her life, her husband of 67 years, the late Max Friedman, with whom she moved to Miami, Florida in 1952 with her parents and beloved son.

Utilizing her excellent language skills in English, German and Spanish she helped her late husband, Max, build a successful furniture business in South Florida and joined him in serving numerous charitable organizations over the years. She was a founding contributor to the Temple of the High Country in Boone, North Carolina.

In declining health for nearly one year, she received loving care from many very kind and caring individuals, from her family doctor, Leslie A. Smith, and from the wonderful people at Medi-Home Hospice.

She is survived by her son, Nicholas R., daughter-in-law, Mary, grandson, Nicholas David Friedman, and niece, Kathleen Parums. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that any donations be made to the Temple of the High Country or to the hospice of your choice.

There will be no funeral service for Ingrid Friedman.
