James M. "Jim" Hodges, age 76, of Dotson Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Hodges was born July 20, 1936 in Watauga County, a son of the late Paul Washington Hodges and Lillie Mae Shore Hodges. He retired from Civil Service and served in the Korean War with United States Army and Air Force. Mr. Hodges played multiple instruments for the Boone Trail Band and his church, for many,many years.
Mr. Hodges is survived by his wife Jimma Lou Culler Hodges of the home; two sisters, Jane Main and husband Ronda of Granite Falls, and Jo Ann Crump and husband Jerry of Lenoir, and a special sister-in-law, Lana King of Mountain City. He is also survived by a number of special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who loved him.
In addtion to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jean Eggers, brother-in-law, Blaine, and his beloved Boston Terrier, Mandolin.
Funeral services for James M. "Jim" Hodges will be conducted Sunday afternoon, February 17, 2013, at 2:00, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Pastor Wynn Greer and Reverend David Hankal. Military graveside rites and burial, provided by American Legion Post 130 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90, will follow in Jont Brown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
