Pearl Phillips Mast, age 101, of Spice Creek Road, Banner Elk, died Sunday morning, June 17, 2012, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Mast was born June 11, 1911 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Ella Mae Potter Phillips Ward. She was a homemaker and a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mast is survived by one daughter, Okelee Taylor of Wilkesboro; two grandsons, Rodney Taylor of Wilkesboro and Donnie Mast and wife Juanita of Gold Hill, North Carolina; two granddaughters, Tammy Paz of Wilkesboro and Sherry Lylerly and her husband Chuck of Gold Hill, and one sister, Irene Heffner of Florida. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Mast; one daughter, Ersel Chloe Mast; one son, Donald Mast; one grandson, Monroe Taylor; one brother, John Phillips, and three sisters, Bonnie Cannon, Ola Mae Thompson, and Pauline Johnson.
Funeral services for Pearl Phillips Mast will be conducted Thursday afternoon, June 21, 2012, at 2:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Richard Trivette. Burial will follow in the Mast Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
