Quentin J. Wheeler

Quentin J. Wheeler, age 88, of 142 Snowdrift Lane, Boone, passed away Saturday morning, February 9, 2013, at his home.

Mr. Wheeler was born November 24, 1924 in Watauga County, a son of the late Simon and Ola Hayes Wheeler. He was a retired machinist for Bernhardt Furniture for 32 years. Mr. Wheeler was a member and former deacon of Three Forks Baptist Church in Boone.

Mr. Wheeler is survived by his wife of 65 years, Faye Coffey Wheeler of the home, and one daughter, Dinia Wheeler of the home. He is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Harvey Wheeler, and one sister, Doris Wheeler Franks.

Funeral services for Quentin J. Wheeler will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, February 12, 2013, at 2:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Lynn Powers and Reverend David Ricker. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service. At other times, friends may call at the home, 142 Snowdrift Lane, Boone.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Three Forks Baptist Church Brotherhood, 1922 Highway 421 South, Boone, North Carolina, 28607.
